Fractional Leadership

Fractional CMO, Fort Wayne.
A plan your team can run.

Senior marketing and business leadership without a full-time salary. We assess, build the strategy, get it moving and hand it to your team.

The problem

Growth stalls when no one owns the strategy

Many growing businesses reach a point where hustle stops working. Marketing, sales, and operations each do their own thing, and the owner is stuck making every decision.

  • You're spending on marketing but can't clearly connect it to growth.
  • Vendors and freelancers work without a unified plan.
  • Sales and marketing don't agree on what a good lead is.
  • You need executive-level strategy but aren't ready for a six-figure hire.

You don't need more tactics. You need leadership that connects them.

Why Lakefly

Leadership from someone who has done the work

Most fractional CMOs are either high-level strategists who can't execute or specialists who only see one piece of the business. [YOUR NAME] has led enterprise data teams at two companies valued at roughly $4 billion, with hands-on expertise across analytics, SEO, paid media, content production, and web development. [CONFIRM]

[YOUR NAME] also worked at Advantage Unified Commerce, the commerce agency Advantage Solutions combined with Amp Agency in 2025 to form AMP, supporting consumer brands across Amazon, Walmart, and other retailers. [CONFIRM role, dates, and what you can share]

  • Budget sized to your business. We set spend from your margins and what a customer is worth, not a percentage-of-revenue rule or whatever the platform recommends.
  • Strategy grounded in data. Decisions based on your actual numbers, not assumptions.
  • Full-funnel perspective. Marketing, sales, and operations viewed as one system.
  • Can roll up sleeves. When the strategy needs a dashboard, a campaign, or a landing page, it gets built.
  • Designed to leave. Success is measured by how well your business runs after the engagement.

Plain language

The terms we'll use with your team

Fractional work only pays off if everyone is using the same definitions. These are the ones that come up most, and what we mean by each.

Fractional CMO. An experienced marketing executive working with your business part-time, on a defined scope, rather than as a full-time hire. The point is senior judgment on strategy, budget, and team decisions without carrying an executive salary before you need one.

Unit economics. What it costs to acquire and serve one customer, and what that customer is worth over time. Every budget decision traces back to these numbers, and the most common reason marketing fails is that nobody worked them out before deciding what to spend.

CAC payback period. How many months it takes for a customer's margin to repay what it cost to acquire them. It determines how fast you can grow without running out of cash, and it's often the real constraint on a business that believes its constraint is lead volume.

Go-to-market strategy. The decision about who you're selling to, what you're promising them, through which channels, at what price. It sits above marketing tactics, and when it's unclear, no amount of campaign execution fixes the result.

Lead definitions (MQL and SQL). The agreed criteria that make a lead worth marketing's follow-up, and then sales' time. When sales and marketing haven't agreed on these in writing, both teams report numbers that look fine while blaming each other for the pipeline.

Scorecard. The short list of numbers leadership reviews on a fixed cadence, with an owner and a target for each. The discipline isn't the metrics, it's the meeting. A scorecard nobody reviews is just another dashboard.

Fractional leadership FAQs

Still have a question? Ask it directly and you'll get a straight answer.

A fractional CMO is an experienced marketing executive who works with your business part-time, providing senior strategy and leadership without the cost of a full-time hire.

Fractional leadership retainers start at $[X] per month, and a standalone growth assessment starts at $[X]. Cost depends on how much leadership time you need each month and how much implementation support is included, typically far less than the salary, benefits, and recruiting cost of a full-time marketing executive.

An agency typically executes specific marketing services. Fractional leadership sets the overall strategy, aligns marketing with sales and operations, and directs the team and vendors doing the work, including agencies.

You get senior expertise for a fraction of the time and cost, with no recruiting, benefits, or long-term commitment. It's often a smart step before hiring full-time, and we can help you hire when you're ready.

Most engagements run [X–X] months: enough time to assess, build and implement a strategy, and hand it off to your team.

Both. We lead implementation with your team and vendors, and can execute specialized work like analytics, SEO, paid media, content, and web through our own services.

You keep the strategy, the documented processes, the dashboards, and the roadmap. We plan the handoff from the start so momentum doesn't stop when we do.
