About Lakefly Productions

Data-forward strategy and creative, built into a marketing agency.

Lakefly Productions started as a publishing house and grew, one client at a time, into a Fort Wayne marketing partner that sits between a freelancer and a boutique agency. The goal has never changed: meaningful impact and real growth for the businesses we serve.

Jeffrey Pinnow

Meet the Founder

Jeffrey Pinnow

I graduated from Valparaiso University in 2016 and started Lakefly Productions during my senior year, originally as a publishing house to keep all of my creative copyrights in one place. As a digital media production major, I spent my time producing videos, music, photos, and creative writing, and I published academic articles and two photography books.

After an internship, I moved into the professional world as a product photographer at Sweetwater. I kept building my portfolio and chasing passion projects as I shifted into more marketing-focused roles. That is where I found my passion, and where my math-forward creative skill set helped me carve out a niche.

That niche was search engine optimization: a perfect blend of math, technical thinking, and creativity. It let me help my employers grow into leaders in their respective verticals, and it set the stage for everything Lakefly Productions does today.

Our Framework

ORCA: data that tells us the next best action

Through years of hands-on SEO work, I began developing what would become ORCA, a proprietary framework that uses a custom algorithm to turn your data into clear next best actions for both SEO and paid media.

Instead of guessing which channel, page, or campaign deserves attention next, ORCA ranks the opportunities so effort and budget go where they will do the most good.

ORCA stands for the following:

  • Optimization
  • Research
  • Content
  • Analysis

How We're Positioned

Between a freelancer and a boutique agency.

With the intellectual property safely under Lakefly's control, I built the company slowly, one client at a time, starting with small website projects. Today Lakefly is a multi-service business that blends the directness of a freelancer with the range of an agency.

What sets us apart is:

Senior-level work, direct access

You work with the person doing the work. No account layers relaying messages, no junior team learning on your budget.

Multiple disciplines, one strategy

Data, SEO, paid media, content, web, and leadership are planned together so each one makes the others work harder.

Budgets forecasted from your numbers

Spend is sized from your margins, customer value, and business stage, and reporting is in revenue terms you can act on.

The Name

Why "Lakefly Productions"

The question I get most often is where the name comes from. The Productions part is simple: I founded the company as a publishing house to maintain my creative works, and it still is one. We continue to release books, music, photography, and videography, and we bring that same production craft to our marketing work to build best-in-class digital experiences for clients.

The Lakefly part is more personal. Growing up, I was very close to my grandparents, who owned a house on Lake Winnebago in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. The house had a name: "The Lakefly." When it came time to name my business, it resonated naturally, and Lakefly Productions was born.

Our story is one of building slowly and building to last. Over the years the company has grown from a home for creative work into a full marketing partner, but the idea underneath has stayed the same: make things with care, keep ownership of the craft, and put it to work for the people we serve.

The Crest

A griffen, built from family heritage

The logo has changed over the years and evolved into the crest you see today, an homage to my family's heritage. One side of my family is German, and the other is a mix of German and Danish. The national symbol of Germany is the eagle, and the national symbol of Denmark is the lion. Together they form the mythical griffin that adorns our crest.
